Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Produce
Start by chopping your onion and shallot (or scallion) finely — these will blend right into the beef later.
Dice your tomato and shred the lettuce. Set the lettuce and tomato aside for topping later.
Chop your parsley and keep it handy for the garlic butter topping.
Step 2: Make the Garlic Butter Topping
In a small saucepan (or microwave-safe bowl), melt the butter.
Stir in garlic paste, Mike’s Hot Honey, garlic pepper seasoning, and chopped parsley.
Mix until combined and set aside.
This glaze is going to add that irresistible, slightly sweet, buttery crust on the rolls.
Step 3: Sauté Onions & Brown the Beef
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with a splash of oil. Sauté the onions and shallot until soft and golden.
Add the ground beef and season it with AP seasoning.
Use a spatula to break it up into smaller chunks — think “loose burger” texture.
Cook until browned and fully done, draining any excess fat if needed.
Step 4: Add the Cheese
Reduce the heat to low and top the cooked beef with American cheese slices.
Let them melt slightly, then gently stir to combine the cheese into the meat mixture.
This gives us that signature chopped cheese texture that’s gooey and rich.
Mix the Sauce
While the beef cools slightly, mix together the mayo, ketchup, sweet relish, and garlic paste in a small bowl.
Stir until smooth and creamy.
Pop it in the fridge to let the flavors marry while you get the sliders assembled.
Step 5: Layer the Good Stuff
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping them connected if you can.
Place the bottom half into a greased or lined baking dish.
Spread the burger sauce over the bottom buns.
Spoon the chopped cheese mixture evenly across.
Then layer on shredded lettuce and fresh tomato slices.
Cap it off with the top half of the rolls.
Step 6: Glaze & Bake
Generously brush the tops with the garlic butter glaze.
Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake an additional 5–7 minutes until the tops are golden, slightly crisp, and the cheese is melty throughout.
Notes
Tips & Tasty Swaps
Swap the cheese
for cheddar or pepper jack for a bolder melt.
No Hawaiian rolls?
Try brioche slider buns.
Add some crunch
with pickles or sliced jalapeños if you like more tang or heat.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
