Korean Beef Bowl Recipe Ingredients
For the Beef
1 lb ground beef (80/20 or lean)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, diced
1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated (or 1 teaspoon ginger paste)
¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste) or sriracha (optional)
1 tablespoon rice vinegar or mirin
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
For the Rice
2 cups white rice (jasmine or short grain)
4 cups water
Pinch of salt
EQUIPMENT
Equipment Used
- Large Skillet or Saute Pan
- Rice Cooker or Stovetop Pot
- Small Mixing Bowl
- Wooden Spoon or Spatula
2 pc. Hybrid All-Purpose Skillet

Step-by-Step Korean Beef Bowl Recipe Instructions
Step 1 – Cook the Rice
In a rice cooker or saucepan, add 2 cups of jasmine or short-grain rice, 4 cups of water, and a pinch of salt.
Cook according to package instructions or until rice is fluffy and tender. Keep warm until ready to serve.
Step 2 – Sauté the Ground Beef
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef.

Cook while breaking it up with a spoon until the meat is fully browned and no longer pink. Drain off any excess fat if needed.

Step 3 – Add the Aromatics
Reduce the heat to medium. Add in the diced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant and the onions begin to soften.

You’ll already start smelling that signature Korean BBQ-inspired aroma.
Step 4 – Build the Sauce
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar (or mirin), and gochujang or sriracha (if using). Pour the sauce directly over the beef mixture and stir to combine everything evenly.

Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to slightly thicken.
Step 5 – Assemble & Serve
Scoop a generous portion of hot rice into each bowl. Top with the Korean beef mixture and finish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Korean Beef Bowl Recipe Pro Tips & Variations
- Spice It Up: Add more gochujang or red pepper flakes for an extra kick.
- Boost the Veggies: Stir in spinach, shredded carrots, or sautéed bell peppers toward the end of cooking.
- Swap the Protein: Try ground turkey, chicken, or tofu for a lighter option.
Perfect Korean Beef Bowl Pairings
These Korean Beef Bowls are super satisfying on their own, but I love pairing them with:
- Kimchi or pickled radish for crunch and tang.
- Steamed broccoli or stir-fried snow peas.
- A fried egg on top for a little richness.
