Whether you’re serving it for dinner or bringing it to your next game-day gathering, this sandwich is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
Let’s break down how to make this mouthwatering chicken parm sandwich step by step!

First things first, as always, let’s prep our ingredients. I like to lay everything out and get organized (also make sure I didn’t forget anything, lol).
This is a good time to measure everything, dice your parsley, and garlic, etc.
Next, let’s go ahead and knock out this simple garlic butter for the bread.
For that, we need 1 stick of room temp butter, 1-2 tbsps of garlic, seasoning of your choice, and some diced parsley. Mix to combine and boom.. garlic butter spread!

Cut your French bread into your desired size for the sandwich and then cut down the middle to open it up. Spread the butter on both sides and get the bread ready for the oven.
Next, prep your chicken breading station. For this, you will need seasoned flour, Italian bread crumbs, and egg wash. I also highly recommend butterflying your chicken and flattening them out or just buying thinned sliced chicken breast from the store for this recipe.
First, we dip the seasoned chicken into the flour, and then the egg wash, and then finally into the bread crumbs.
Place the breaded chicken on a sheet pan and get your oil up to 350 degrees.
Fry the chicken until it reaches 165 internal temp.
Once the chicken is done frying, hit it with some finishing salt and then place some fresh mozzarella on top of the chicken. Place this in the oven at 400-degree until the mozzarella melts (just like standard chicken parm)

Next, add sliced mozzarella and marinara sauce to your sandwich bread. Place in a 400-degree oven for about 5 minutes and then add your chicken.
Next, cut your chicken parm into small bite-sized pieces and add to your sandwich – finish in the oven for an additional 3-5 minutes and serve.
Tips for the Perfect Chicken Parmesan Sandwich:
- Chicken Breasts: If you prefer a thinner, juicier chicken cut, consider butterflying the chicken breasts or using chicken cutlets. Thinner pieces will cook faster and stay tender.
- Homemade Marinara: If you want to take this sandwich to the next level, try making your marinara sauce. A simple blend of canned tomatoes, garlic, olive oil, basil, and a pinch of sugar can create a fresh, flavorful sauce that’ll make your sandwich even more delicious.
- Toasting the Rolls: Toasting the rolls with the garlic butter adds a ton of flavor to the sandwich. If you’re looking for an extra crispy crunch, try adding a thin layer of garlic butter to the inside of the roll before you toast it.
- Make it Your Own: Add extra toppings like sautéed mushrooms, fresh basil, or even a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a gourmet twist!
Final Thoughts:
This Chicken Parmesan Sandwich is the perfect marriage of crispy, cheesy, and savory flavors. Whether you’re craving comfort food for dinner or preparing something special for your next family gathering, this sandwich is sure to impress.
With just the right amount of crunch and melt-in-your-mouth goodness, it’s a meal that’s simple to make but loaded with flavor.
